About Us

You make a lit wish. We make it glow.

Our Story

With strong electrical engineering and lighting design backgrounds, our founders began building their lighting portfolio by working on urban-scale historical monuments and landmark projects.

PROXIMA EVENT - LIGHTING WORKSHOP

From the early stages, they integrated a multidisciplinary collaboration approach, including working with architects, engineers, as well as interior, urban, landscape, and industrial designers. As a result, our services have expanded beyond lighting design to include manufacturing, supply, control offerings, and commissioning.

Today, our lighting footprint extends across almost all five continents, with multiple awarded projects globally and locally.

PROXIMA’S PROJECT - BERNARD BLOCK KELOWNA

Developing services in North America

Our journey in North America began in May 2008 and consequently in September 2012, our founders established Proxima Lighting in British Columbia, Canada. Soon after, we were retained to design mixed-use towers, complexes, and tenant improvement (T.I.) projects across Alberta and BC. Since then, Proxima has benefited from strong partnerships with manufacturers, agents, wholesalers, and designers across Canada, the USA, Europe, China, South America and the Middle East.

Our Philosophy

At Proxima, we believe light should enhance life. Our goal is to strengthen our global reputation as a trusted lighting partner, transforming sophisticated visions into brilliant realities. To achieve this, our team stays current with the latest knowledge, trends, technologies, and products. We remain committed to our core values while leading as a solutions-driven lighting provider across Canada and contributing to select high-profile projects in the U.S. and worldwide.

Social & Ethical Responsibility

We are committed to continuously improving lighting systems by sharing our knowledge with design academies, providing designers and partners with the latest lighting concepts and technologies, sponsoring relevant professional associations, and engaging with decision-makers across cities and communities throughout our network to elevate awareness of the importance of quality lighting. We are also dedicated to serving our customers by delivering high-quality, sustainable, well-being-focused, and cost-effective lighting solutions from the design phase through to commissioning.

We are committed to operating with honesty, integrity, and fairness at the core of everything we do, building trust through transparent practices and responsible actions. We treat people and relationships with equal respect within our diverse cultural workplace and throughout our external network.

Quality Commitments: Our Quality Pillars

Our Quality Commitments

Human-Centred and Well-Being Oriented

We develop lighting strategies with attention to comfort, visibility, glare control, daylight integration, appropriate light levels, and the changing needs of occupants.

Where relevant, we consider human-centred and circadian-aware lighting principles to support environments that feel balanced, comfortable, and responsive throughout the day.

Harmonized With Architecture

Lighting should feel connected to the architecture rather than added after the design is complete.

We consider form, scale, materials, surfaces, spatial rhythm, furniture, landscape, and interior details to develop solutions that strengthen the overall design language.

At the same time, we remain responsive to advances in optics, controls, fixture construction, connectivity, and lighting technology.

Environmentally and Economically Responsible

Responsible lighting design considers the full life cycle of the system.

We evaluate energy use, fixture longevity, controls, maintenance, replaceability, light distribution, and long-term operational requirements. In exterior applications, we also consider light trespass, unnecessary spill light, and the effect of lighting on surrounding environments.

Our goal is to balance lighting quality with practical, environmental, and economic responsibility.
